Don't Open The Door Half Way
Words and Music by Craig Hlady
You need dry wood to get a fire to burn,
Dew covered logs only smolder and choke.
Kindle a fire, so a spark can grab hold.
When you've got half a heart it leaves you with half a soul,
Then there's not much left and that can take its toll.
But a real fire steadily burns through the night,
Crackles and pops, and dances around with it's jig.
It makes me real strong, then weak in the knees,
If you let me touch your heart, I won't take, but just give.
So don't open the door half way and not let me in.
Don't open the door half way and not let me in
There's a wild wind, that blows hot and cold,
A cool breeze, makes me shiver and shake.
When the south wind comes, there's a warmth I long to know,
For such a long time it's been so hard to wait.
So don't let the sun shine in and then close my shades
For so long, I've wandered on.
Now I've found my way,
To a place I know, I want to go and stay.
(solo)
Hold on here's a thread, it can mend a torn heart.
Closes the hole, I won't feel winter again.
When the darkness subsides, the morning sun shines bright,
The light that you shine upon me never dims.
So don't open the door half way and not let me in.
Don't open the door half way and not let me in.
